Elementary Learning at JCS​
At JCS, we believe elementary students learn best through meaningful experiences, engaging lessons, quality literature, hands-on activities, and strong relationships with caring adults.
Unlike many virtual programs, we do not rely on a canned, one-size-fits-all curriculum where students simply log in and click through lessons all day. Instead, our teachers work in partnership with families to create a personalized educational experience that supports each child’s unique needs, interests, and learning goals.
Students use real books, paper and pencil activities, manipulatives, hands-on projects, educational games, and teacher-created lessons that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and active participation. LIVE classes provide direct instruction and opportunities for collaboration, while independent learning activities reinforce essential skills and concepts.
Parents and Learning Coaches play an important role in the educational process. Together, families and teachers form a partnership that supports student growth, celebrates progress, and helps each child develop confidence as a learner.
Our goal is to provide the flexibility of homeschooling with the guidance, support, and accountability of a high-quality school program.

Nurturing Home-Based Learning Excellence: Our TK-5 Virtual Program
Our TK-5 Virtual Program creates a powerful educational partnership between parents and credentialed teachers—going far beyond traditional distance learning. We empower learning coaches (parents) to foster academic success in the home environment with professional guidance and comprehensive support.
A True Parent-Teacher Partnership​
Our program combines:
- Parent-guided home study with certified teacher expertise
- Personalized curriculum selection for each child’s unique needs
- Optional daily Zoom classes to enhance learning
- Regular field trips and enrichment activities
- Monthly virtual meetings with dedicated mentor teachers
Complete Educational Package Included with Enrollment
Every enrolled student receives:
- Chromebook or similar device
- All curriculum materials and learning resources, including art and science supplies
- Access to supplemental educational materials as needed
- Participation in field trips and campus events at no cost
- Tutoring support for students requiring additional assistance
Customized Learning Experience
Your child’s education is tailored through:
- Personalized curriculum selection based on learning style and interests
- Flexible daily scheduling around your family’s needs
- Approximately 20-40 minutes per subject daily, including Physical Education
- Option to adjust pace and work ahead when desired
- Supplemental resources provided based on individual student needs
Parent as Learning Coach
As your child’s learning coach, you’ll:
- Guide and support daily studies and assignments
- Partner with a certified mentor teacher to monitor progress
- Help establish effective home learning routines
- Collaborate on educational decisions and adjustments
- Receive professional guidance while maintaining an active role
Academic Monitoring and Support​
To ensure student success:
- Biweekly meetings with mentor teachers review progress
- Regular assessment to track academic growth
- Additional tutoring available for students needing extra help
- State testing administered virtually for grades 3-5 (CAASPP)
- Fifth grade physical fitness testing conducted at JCS facilities
